IGS seminar: “Ukraine: Reexamining the Decolonization Paradigm”

Course co-directors: Ostap Sereda (Ukrainian Catholic University / Bard College Berlin) and Balazs Trencsenyi (CEU).

This series of workshops aims to explore the heuristic value of the decolonial paradigm in academic research on Ukraine and assess the potential for integrating Ukrainian material into teaching decolonization to students outside of Ukraine. The workshop format is based on horizontal seminar discussions (rather than lectures) with leading experts, incorporating both Ukrainian and transnational perspectives. Students are expected to participate actively as moderators/commentators and prepare discussion questions. Throughout the semester, we hope to collect a broad database of texts on these topics that can be used as a resource for future courses and research projects on decolonization. The series of workshops is primarily for IGS students, but also for advanced MA and BA students who should be invited on an individual basis.
